Crikey, we need to talk! How are you getting your digital shots to look so crisp and sharp? I am permanently underwhelmed by the sharpness on mine. This one is wonderful! Great toning too.
pixelpixie: Thank-you! All I do is use unsharp mask if I think it needs it. This was hand held so I gave it a dose. Thanks to it being a raw file, I was able to pull the clouds back. Starting to get the hang of working in raw now.
I really like this idealized indurstrial shot. It is too clean and crips to be the real thing, but it has all the components one would expect.
pixelpixie: Thanks Martin, it does look very inhuman but it's very real. It takes on a completely different personality at night when it's all lit up with blue and green light.
Strange - I was thinking about this building & the many photo opportunities it offers when watching the Apprentice repeat the other night.
Aren't they having to consider demolishing this building as it's in such a poor state of repair that maintenance is more expensive than replacement? My bro-in-law in the City told me that.
pixelpixie: Lol it was watching Tuesday's programme and seeing a photo of it in that waiting area that reminded me of the one I'd taken and prompted me to post it. I had no idea it's days are numbered.
I really like this Jose, the image has a strong industrial style, lovely shot. mal
pixelpixie: Lol it makes me think of a Batman or James Bond movie and some sort of secret weapon sitting there waiting to destroy the world or something and I've learned from comments left that it may end up being demolished.
That's an interesting architecture. It's a shame that they'll come to demolition... but at the same time are they convenient for human activities ? Great mono.
pixelpixie: Thank-you Florence - I didn't know it may be demolished!
What a fantastic angle/perspective on this building, Jose. And it's perfect in mono!
pixelpixie: Pleased you like it Ginnie. Hope Amsterdam is dry and sunny for you.
Like the way youv'e held onto the shadow detail, what sort of mono conversion did you do??
this is a good way to capture a very futuristic building...
Nice one - I really like this building - shame that it's falling apart!
Striking image, very industrial.
I hadn't given it too much thought before but it is interesting how the financial giants go and build inductrial looking buildings giving the impression that their foundations are as strong as steel. i am thinking about the bank of hong kong buiding in hk as well. great angle and lines Jose. looks like a fancy coffee machine.
Impressive take on this building Jose.
I've never, ever understood this building and how it is meant to relate to the history of Lloyds. I'd like to see it for myself one day though.
I do like the way you've presented this, and the strong dark shininess of the building
Very lovely shot Jose...I walk past this building quite often and have never seen it look this good!
really well taken!
Impressive building - Very clever composition : Bravo !!
Great building. I like the angle you've chosen.
