Mistletoe
"From the centre of the ceiling of this kitchen, old Wardle had just suspended with his own hands a huge branch of mistletoe, and this same branch of mistletoe instantaneously gave rise to a scene of general and most delightful struggling and confusion; in the midst of which, Mr. Pickwick, with a gallantry that would have done honour to a descendant of Lady Tollimglower herself, took the old lady by the hand, led her beneath the mystic branch, and saluted her in all courtesy and decorum."

lovely composition and with the light adding texture to the leaves, well done Jose
Like the composition here Jose, well seen.
I like this devasted one ! Bring good luck Kiss !!!
The tradition of kissing under the mistletoe comes from the Norse of Baldur.
Baldur's mother was the Norse goddess, Frigga. When Baldur was born, Frigga made each and every plant, animal and inanimate object promise not to harm Baldur. But Frigga overlooked the mistletoe plant -- and the mischievous god of the Norse myths, Loki, took advantage of this oversight. Ever the prankster, Loki tricked one of the other gods into killing Baldur with a spear fashioned from mistletoe. The demise of Baldur, a vegetation deity in the Norse myths, brought winter into the world, although the gods did eventually restore Baldur to life. After which Frigga pronounced the mistletoe sacred, ordering that from now on it should bring love rather than death into the world. Happily complying with Frigga's wishes, any two people passing under the plant from now on would celebrate Baldur's resurrection by kissing under the mistletoe. Your mistltoe looks very stylish against the warm grey background - any takers?

"saluted her in all courtesy and decorum"!! How very Dickens!
Love your capture. Still can't place the round 'appendages' on the stalk!
Simply BEAUTIFUL
Happy New Year & may success & joy line your path this year
It's the first mistletoe I've seen all season, Jose-Ann! And mighty fine mistletoe it is!!
Happy New Year to you and yours.
Almost perfect Jose. Love the uncluttered composition, the detail on the berries, the depth of focus and the graduated background. If only there were a touch more detail in the deepest shadow areas - if only.
pixelpixie: I know, you are right of course!

pixelpixie: Thanks Micky
What the Dickens be this Paganish symbology says I?
pixelpixie: Did you never kiss the girls under the mistletoe when you were a lad?
