Blackpool Rock

If you like still-life and even if you don't, I'd strongly recommend a visit to One's blog of yesterday.  Only seven people had visited when I went looking and it deserves more than that. I loved the humour and referencing. If you don't like still-life, there's also a really strong archive to dive into as well.

Love this somewhat abstract colorful shot, Jose. It's edgy and artistic.
pixelpixie: Thanks very much Kay, you won't know what Blackpool is like - reminiscent of Niagara Falls Town only at the seaside and more garish so I've tried to inject something of that into one of its souvenirs.
very imaginative well done.
pixelpixie: Thank-you very much Tracy smile
I really like the idea of this, but its over proccessed for my liking.
pixelpixie: Thanks for dropping in Carl and thanks for the comment. It's rare I do an over the top photoshop job on an image but seeing as this was Blackpool rock, it seemed the obvious choice! smile

South Shore Market( before it became crap) had the big metal tables where they rolled this stuff out, compelling viewing but in a brain dead kind of way! Over Processed Carl, have you ever been to Blackpool, this is the very height of restraint!!!! Nice one.
pixelpixie: Thank-you David, you've read it perfectly smile

Looks like someone took a bite out of it, just right for anyone with a sweet tooth.
pixelpixie: Cheers Les! I spent ages choosing the best piece in the shop - the one with the straightest end and neatest wording only to go and drop it when I got home. This is one of the many pieces it shattered into!
This is the winner for me! I love it. (:o)
pixelpixie: Thank-you very much Rosalyn. I'm delighted you like it smile

Hi, Jose! Agree with Ros: this the best interpretation of this theme by a mile... smile
pixelpixie: You're making me blush! Thank-you kind sir! Have you ever been to one of those Elvis lookalike competitions they have in town?

Hi Josie, having enjoyed our chat on Thursday, this does not come as a surprise, although I thought it might have been Fleetwood rock. This has an interesting quirky edge for such a mundane item, I particularly like the use of a black background.
pixelpixie: Thank-you Alistair, I was so hungry all I could think of was fish n chips when I should have been thinking Fleetwood instead! I had no idea what a small world Shutter was and that you were off to Drewble the next day. What a talented family you have! Thanks for taking time out to visit me today. Enjoy your holiday smile

You clearly know more about Blackpool than I do, Jose Ann. I feel like I need to be let in on a secret. grin
pixelpixie: Well you see, out of the blue I met up with Redshift, Murphys, Digiphotology and Mal in Blackpool and we spent a lovely afternoon wandering around Fleetwood and its environs taking pics and chatting and it was just so, so nice. Not only do we have a lovely community in the ether, we have one in real time too!
interesting, very interesting.
pixelpixie: Glad you like it, Jose smile

I think this is a great shot, shame you have some pixelated (imho) but I can understand the ref to the over the top nature of the place. Good Luck! Mike
pixelpixie: Do you mean in the bath or in Bath grin It's not pixelated at least I don't think it can be, I didn't use a camera, I used the scanner and then posterised it and a few other things, well just tinkered about until I thought it looked like Blackpool smile Blackpool rocks!! Hey, thanks for visiting, that's lovely.

it's unique idea, very interesting, nicely composition wink
pixelpixie: Thank-you Dudee and thanks for dropping by!
That's very different - and I'm wondering, what is a blackpool Rock?
pixelpixie: Blackpool rock is like boiled sweets only in stick form. It's something you find at most of our seaside resorts and people buy it as a souvenir. It's terrible for your teeth though!

As twisted sister would say. i wanna rock. but this one looks like it has been sucked on. very original entry into the comp.
pixelpixie: Well it would have been if my daughter had had a chance! I was surprised no one else did it!
This is a great shot. Good enough to eat.
cheers for the reference man. You rock...
