Dandelion III

...sorry, another dandelion image!

Thank-you everyone for all the lovely comments and apologies for not replying, I'll get there eventually. I've been hastily putting together a photograph album for my daughter's class teacher as a leaving present -  secondary school in September. Her class put on a production of 'Alice' for three nights last week and I took photographs of all the players in their costumes as a memento of what was an amazing show.

Fabulous bold contrast of yellow against black, with lovely details.
pixelpixie: Thank-you again Red Pen! I used my scanner to get this image.
Nice and crisp!
pixelpixie: Thanks Martin, I used the scanner smile

very bright, strong color. great detail, i like how you can even see the clumps of pollen. very nice. how'd you get the background so black? has the flower been picked, or did you edit out the background? i like the strong yellow against the pure black.
pixelpixie: Thanks for commenting Alex. Yes it is a picked flower, placed on my flatbed scanner and then put some black velvet over the top but with plenty of space between it and the flower. So, the black background is 'shot' at the same time as the flower. There was very little adjustment to be made once in photoshop, just a little in curves I think. Pleased you like it, Jose

Absolutely fabulous, Jose Ann. A Likey for sure!
pixelpixie: Pleased you like my dandelion Ginnie, I did this one on the flatbed scanner. smile
great macro! wonderful flower!
pixelpixie: Hi Nicola, pleased you like! I did it on my flatbed scanner though!
You did the right thing making that album - in my opinion smile

Love the black background - it's great on your black site. The flower seems to be expanding, arms stretching outwards...
pixelpixie: Thanks Aksel, the teacher loved the album too so I feel very satisfied. I did this image on my flatbed scanner - the black background is a piece of black velvet placed over the flower. smile
Amazing work I post one like the few weeks ago but this one is much better : Bravo !
pixelpixie: Thank-you so much Zeb. This was done on my flatbed scanner with some black velvet placed over the top - really easy!

i love the 3d effect of the light on the dark. reminds me of the time a couple of years ago someone posted a scan of a large field mushroom on photo.net and it got photo of the week. i think that was one post which made me decide if i ever post my photos on the net that it probably won't be on photo.net. great shot. i just need to practice masculine ways of asking for black velvet.

Wow, this looks stunning. I like dandylions, they are so bright. My neighbour hates mine as the seeds blow onto his perfect lawn!
